Urbaser has begun to provide the new sustainable cleaning service in the Spanish capital with approximately 350 vehicles, 75% of which will be environmentally friendly.
Urbaser incorporates the use of cutting-edge technologies to the cleaning services of the city of Madrid, focused on increasing efficiency and reducing emissions derived from its operations. Specifically, a fleet of around 350 vehicles, 75% of which will be environmentally friendly. A commitment that also seeks to reduce the effort of the operators, while improving the attention of citizen alerts and optimizing the cleaning of dog excrement and urine.
Urbaser’s objective regarding these two lots awarded in the new contract, is to provide an efficient service with the citizens of Madrid at the centre, always adapting to the needs of the city and guaranteeing the provision of an optimum service at all times.
SUSTAINABLE AND INNOVATIVE CLEANING SERVICE
Urbaser is thus committed to services in favour of an energy transition based on the use of cutting-edge technology and efficient working systems to reduce the environmental footprint and promote circular economy. In addition to environmentally friendly vehicles, it will promote the use of more environmentally efficient facilities and will initiate a process to encourage the separation of waste at source.
The company will employ approximately 1,700 workers in the contract that began operations on November 1 and will be in force for the next six years.
Both lots, valued at 500 million euros, cover the districts of Latina, Moncloa-Aravaca, Fuencarral-El Pardo, Puente de Vallecas, Villa de Vallecas, Moratalaz and Vicálvaro, which means a total of 23.8 km 2of pavements and roadways and the provision of services to more than 1,100,000 citizens, a third of the total registered population of the city.
