Madrid, September 18, 2024. Urbaser has once again been recognized for its management and performance in terms of sustainability, this time by being awarded the Achilles Award in the ESG Evolution category.

The world’s leading company in environmental solutions has received this recognition today, during the I Achilles ESG Awards Day, held in Madrid. At the awards ceremony, the exceptional progress shown by the company in its sustainability practices in recent months was highlighted, serving as an inspiration to the rest of the business community to be part of the change. This work has also been thanked to the other companies nominated for the Achilles Awards in the same category -Baleària, Eurofins Iproma and iProspect Spain-.

Achilles is a reference company that analyzes the compliance of supply chains with ESG regulations and has awarded Urbaser a score of 97.5 out of 100 compared to an average score of 45.4 for the total network analyzed by Achilles.

Achilles knows that adopting these practices is not always easy and that it requires a great effort from companies and their employees. For this reason, the entity supports and highlights, through this conference, those organizations that, like Urbaser, strive to comply with sustainability legislation and anticipate the regulatory challenges in this area through their corporate strategies.

In this sense, Urbaser’s Global Purchasing Department collaborates in the ESG improvement of its critical suppliers that are part of the Achilles community. “This allows us to advance in due diligence processes, in addition to optimizing and improving the performance of our supply chain by integrating our suppliers in our strategy and sustainability objectives,” says Ricardo Pascual, Urbaser’s Purchasing Director.

In the words of Fátima Araluce, Director of Sustainability at Urbaser and in charge, together with Ricardo Pascual, of collecting the Award today during the gala, “It is a recognition of the work of all the professionals at Urbaser, who every day make everything work in the value chain to drive a real transformation towards the circular economy. We are really proud to be part of this change, assuming the responsibility of leading the way and raising the standards of this sector and connecting challenges with efficient solutions.”
